Karen Jerwood is an associate at the firm of Firsel Ross & Weis. Karen focuses her practice on real estate transactions, representing parties in transactions that include the development, financing, acquisition, and disposition of commercial real estate, including restaurants, medical office buildings, retail, office, vacant land, and multi-family projects. She also has substantial experience representing landlords and tenants in retail and office commercial leasing transactions.
In connection with such transactions, she reviews, negotiates, and drafts real estate contracts, closing documents, loan documents, lease agreements, and other related documents. She also conducts due diligence, performs title and survey reviews, and analyzes zoning, land use, and development restrictions.
Karen has a strong background in real estate title insurance. Prior to joining Firsel Ross & Weis, Karen worked as a commercial title underwriter at a title company in Chicago where she resolved title clearance issues and managed the closing process for condominium, single-family and commercial projects.
While completing her legal education, Karen held a judicial internship at the Circuit Court of Cook County in its Mortgage Foreclosure and Mechanic’s Lien section.
Karen is fluent in Spanish.
